Daybook: Quiet Doesn’t Always Mean Silent

..::In the world outside my front door::..

Bright. Sunny. Warm. Very, very warm. We have skipped right over spring and into summer.

..::I am Listening to::..

 The children playing together in the next room. Tempted though I am to stop them and begin lessons, they are learning their own lessons more valuable than any I could have planned.

Health Insurance. Over the past month alone we have meet our family deductible for the entire year. I think that our provider is more than happy to have us as a customer.

that this past month has been an overwhelming whirlwind.  I had every intention of sharing with all of you in this space how our family embraces the Easter season, but just before Easter even arrived some less than joyful news found it’s way into our home.

Just because things have been quiet here, doesn’t mean things have been silent.

Days after arriving home from a business trip, before setting off again for another week in the mid-west, my husband’s existing condition uncovered a few disturbing findings thanks to the routine blood work required for it’s maintenance. After several modifications in his treatment, an ultrasound, a couple of CT scans, an MRI, two emergency room visits and several referrals to specialists, and lots and lots and lots of prayers, things are not looking as grim as they had started out. My husband was finally able to return back to work last week and our daily routine has started to find the welcomed daily rhythm we all thrive on.

birthday plans for a certain little girl. The poor child’s birthday was overshadowed again this year– last year it was Easter Sunday and this year her father and I spent the entire day in the ER. Thanks to my wonderful family here in town there was a delicious birthday dinner thanks to Grandma and a lovely cake from Aunt Aimee that helped to make the day a bit sweeter. She still wishes to celebrate with all of her friends, and rightly so, so a pool party will be held later this month.

..::To live the liturgy::..

All of my Easter season plans went out the window this year, but our family has learned valuable lessons in prayer and through Holy Mass over this past month.

We also just celebrated our daughter’s First Holy Communion this past weekend. It was a wonderful and joyous weekend!

for my husband–for continued improvement to his health and that we can learn new ways to manage his condition.

for a friend who was severely burned in a kitchen accident–that she will find comfort and healing soon.

Getting back into the school room to finish out this academic year.

A few doctor’s appointments with my husband.

A much needed play date with friends.

  1. I am so sorry that your husband was not well. I was hoping you would return soon and was keeping you in prayer. Your daughter looks beautiful. My son made his First Communion Sunday too! Glad to hear it was a joyous occasion. I hope that things settle down for you and that the whirlwind is over.

  2. Welcome back! I pray time heals, joy overshadows sorrow, and you continue to bring glory to God in all you do! I often stop at your blog to see new ideas. I was concerned something was wrong when you hadn’t posted in so long. I hoped maybe it was happy news, morning sickness, but then figured after a few weeks that wouldn’t keep a homeschooling mom out of the picture for very long. Although strangers on this earth, we are friends through our Catholic faith. Thank you for helping to share the treasures and truths of the faith.
