Daybook: Monday in Ordinary Time

..::In the world outside my front door::..

Darkness.

There are still a couple of hours before the sun will rise. We all rose early this morning to see Dad off for a business trip.

..::I am so Grateful for::..

Internet, smart phones, and Skype. Otherwise this would be a very long, long week.

..::I am Reading::..

The Story of the Trapp Family Singers by Maria Augusta Trapp

Every young child is familiar with the story. I loved the Sound of Music growing up but never set out to actually read the story from Maria herself.  This wonderful Catholic family is so lovely and I am learning so much! I hope to finish a few other of her books this year, especially Around the year with the Trapp family if I could get my hands on an out of print copy.

(Anyone know where to find such luck?)

..::To live the liturgy::..

Creating Lenten plans. We celebrate the season in our home, but I also would like to spend a little time delving into it academically each day. Lots of thoughts swirling around…..

We will also be celebrating the Feast of St. Agnes this weekend when Dad returns.

(Are you planning on honoring the Saints this week?)

..::Towards a Real Education::..

Lesson plans for next year are already beginning to take shape.  Since we like to begin our new school year mid summer, I’m trying to get a jump on things. Not too much will be changing with our curriculum since we have been very happy with our chosen books, but some new additions will be finding there way into our days.

I’ve also been crafting pages for my daughter’s First Communion notebook.  She has been preparing to receive the Lord in early May, and this has been a fun way to record her journey.

(Those of you with young children making the sacrament, what resources have you found to be ideal for at home instruction?)

..::Towards Rhythm and Beauty::..

Rhythm will be slightly off this week. We have a definite routine in this household that is both welcomed and somewhat necessary. With a missing piece of the puzzle, we’ll see what rhythm plays out.DSC_0148

..::I am Hoping and Praying::..

for my husband, that he has safe travels over this next week.

for the repose of the soul of a schoolmate who passed away last week, that his family is consoled during this difficult time.

for a friend’s newest little bundle born early last week, that she finds joy and plenty of love during her baby-moon.

..::Around the House::..

The last of the Christmas decorations were taken down over last week.  And now everything looks bare.

In fact, after seeing the church on Sunday, dressed for Ordinary Time, my son was greatly disappointed—“You ruined Christmas!!”, was shouted as we made our way into the pew.

..::From the Kitchen::..

With Dad gone, we will be feasting on all of the yummy dishes that he shrugs upon—lots of soups and meatless dishes!

..::On the Calendar for the Week::..

A playdate with friends and a Little Flowers meeting are all that are on the agenda for this week.  We will take advantage of our free schedule to make some headway in the school room.
