“So, just what do you do with Him
when you are schooling Her“?
I understand. Really I do. How does anyone manage to get anything done with a toddler underfoot? All mothers know that going to the bathroom becomes a spectator sport. Try to school a child with a toddler? How the heck do you do that!?!
I’m insane, I tell you.
Having school aged children and toddlers is a major balancing act. It’s just one more plate to keep spinning. And while often times the plate comes crashing down into a million little slivers, there is a trick to all of the madness.
It’s all in the planning.
I have a 6 yr old schooled child and a 2 yr old. Both of who are needy of momma at– get this— the SAME time.
While all the homeschooling books will tell you to enlist the help of an older child, or have your mother/sister/aunt/ random dog walker watch your toddler so that you can get some semblance of schooling accomplished—- I have no such volunteers.
Instead I have to intentionally plan for the activities/items that my toddler will play with during the school day. When I plan, there is more variety. And less time for boredom to set in. Because when there is boredom, this happens:
And so, with the new year upon us, I thought I would share with all of you throughout the coming weeks just how it is that I keep my little man entertained.
